The OMQ-3045 Serial Activated
Relay Switch is a versatile device
that can monitor an RS-232 data
stream for a two character switching
sequence that enables a relay to
switch. For example, the unit will
energize the two built-in single-pole,
double throw relays, when it
receives the characters Control-A
(hex 01) followed by a "1" (hex 31).
The unit will de-energize the relays
when it receives the characters
Control-A (hex 01) followed by a "0"
(hex 30). The Power LED indicates
that the OMQ-3045 has power,
while the Relay Status LED indicator
is lit when the relays are ON. A built-in
SELF TEST mode allows the user
to test communications to the
device. When SELF TEST is
activated, the OMQ-3045 will transmit a test message out of its
RS-232 port, and will continue to
transmit until the SELF TEST is
turned off. An RS-232 cable is
connected to a DB25 connector
(female), while the relay outputs are
accessed via a 6-position screw
terminal block
